1. the fruit of certain vines, with hard rinds and many flat seeds. It belongs to the gourd family. One kind, the bottle gourd, is dried and hollowed out and used for cups, bowls, bottles, and other utensils.
2. the vine that it grows on.
3. a cup, bowl, bottle, or other utensil, made from the dried shell of a gourd: »

4. any plant of the gourd family.
5. U.S. Slang. the head; mind: »
